Updating A Family Home: Master Bath
The Master Bath is the last stop on our tour of Updating A Family Home. Although we did not have to move any plumbing, this was a major renovation in the Master Bath. Every surface and every finish in the space was updated.
Let’s start at the bottom…the flooring has “marble-look” porcelain tile. Since the space is large and has a lot of right angles, we laid the tile on the diagonal. We used the same subway tile for the tub surround and the shower. We added a decorative metallic tile to add interest in the shower.
Speaking of the shower, we took this opportunity to enlarge it, install a corner bench seat, and install a seamless glass shower door. .
We replaced the outdated vanities with taller, furniture-like ones with granite countertops and oil rubbed bronze faucets. We finished off the vanity area with decoratively framed mirrors and new light fixtures.
On the Walls
The walls are neutral color in the same tone as the tile in order to achieve that spa-like feel in the Bath. We accessorized with artwork, plush towels and functional bath accessories in an oil rubbed bronze finish. What the homeowners were left with was a true Master Suite and their own retreat in this Family Home.
