Making a Good First Impression

I cannot stress enough the importance of making a good impression in your Foyer. In this case, the detailed trim work hits you right when you walk in. This homeowner loves trim, and Steve Alridge, Interior Trim/Custom Woodworking did not disappoint. He is truly a master trim carpenter.

The Foyer

From the Foyer, you can see the Dining Room, Great Room, Kitchen and Breakfast Area. We found a tall console with an unique shape and distressed finish to ground the open area. An oversized lamp with a shade in a blue color to continue our flow of the color blue throughout these open areas. We hung a great weathered piece of artwork to finish off the vignette. After the show, we added a light traditional area rug to contrast against the dark hammered maple floor.

The Dining Room

For the Dining Room, we surrounded the room in an extra high wainscot and applied a beautiful metallic faux finish to the barrel ceiling. Kelly Sisler with Kelly Faux Creations is a true artist! We selected traditional dining furniture in a rich dark wood finish. In lieu of matching armchairs, we added upholstered wingback chairs in our blue color. We grounded the space with a rug with raised chenille accents. For the window treatments, we added pinched pleat panels with a contrasting swag on short decorative rods to frame the triple window.

We added an orchid to a metallic footed bowl and finished it with two large hurricanes candleholders. To accessorize the sideboard, we added two buffet lamps with burlap shades as well as a charger and matching pedestal bowls. Since there was limited painted wall space, we used round plates in our rich blue color for wall decor.

I think we achieved our goal of setting a stunning first impression as you entered this home. Enjoy!
