There’s No Place Like Home…arama: The Guest Room
You want your Guest Room to feel welcoming and comfortable. Guest Rooms are private spaces that do not have to flow with the other public spaces in your home. This is a great opportunity to put some color on the walls and add lots of fabric for warmth.
I knew I had achieved the feel we wanted for this room when I got a text message from a client who had visited the Homearama house that said, “I would like to be a guest in their home!”
For this particular room, the husband saw some bedding in a catalog that he really liked, so I tracked down that fabric and used it as the jumping off point. It was a gorgeous Candice Olsen fabric from Kravet in rich greens and blues.
We chose a white upholstered bed in a durable, cleanable fabric to break up some of the color.
We offset it with a blue painted nightstand and a green painted dresser. I love using painted furniture in a Guest Room.
Every Bedroom Needs Seating
We added a white wood chair for the corner. Every bedroom – including the Guest Room – needs seating. For some interest, we installed the drapery panels over a balloon valance and flanked it with large, vibrant artwork.
The only problem with this room is that the homeowners may not be able to get their guests to leave!
