There’s No Place Like Home…arama: Teenage Boy’s Room

The homeowners have what it is essentially a second Master Bedroom on the Lower Level which their teenage son wanted to be his bedroom. It is a large room with 10-foot ceilings, two windows, and a full bath, and walk-in closet. The only direction I got was that he wanted his room to feel like the ocean, and that got me thinking…

Goal: To Feel Like the Ocean

We painted the room a medium blue tone which did not feel too dark because of all the natural light coming in. On the main wall, we installed wood planks stained a warm honey color. We had a platform bed and two floating nightstands installed into the wood wall.

Furnishings

For additional furnishings we added a metal desk and triple dresser painted navy. In the corner we found a gray leather tub chair.

Finishing Touches

We added accessories and artwork that were reminiscent of the ocean including lantern lamps and kelp artwork.

Flowing Into the Bathroom

This Bedroom and Bath are all about texture.  From the wood wall to the metal desk to the leather chair to the ceramic bath tile.

It was quite a compliment when their teenage son told his parents that he did not want to change a thing!
