Family Home Update: Foyer + Great Room

This beautiful family home belongs to long time clients of mine. We had updated the Great Room approximately 8 years ago with new furniture, window treatments, and accessories. We used the homeowners’ rug as a starting point for the first update, and we used it again for this one – only this time we pulled the beautiful blue color out as our accent color. We lightened the walls with Sherwin Williams’ Malabar (SW9110).

The decorative panels frame the two story bay window beautifully.

We kept the existing furniture, but added pops of blue with the sofa pillows, a throw, and accessories.

We filled the corner with a pedestal table and accented it with family photos.

We replaced the tables with ones in a more appropriate scale, in a deep wood stain.

The homeowners bring many treasures back from their travels. We nestled this beautiful handmade chess set from China in the bay window with two tufted club chairs in a burnt orange fabric.

This awesome elephant which was a find in India takes center stage on the new coffee table.

We added double panel wainscoting for a dramatic statement in the Entry. We carried it all the way through the Upstairs Loft Area.

I love that we were able to work with existing pieces and still give these rooms an beautiful update. This home is featured in the current issue of Kentucky Homes & Gardens. Stop by the store and pick up a copy. We will feature other spaces from this home in upcoming blog posts. Enjoy!
