There’s No Place Like Home…arama: The Master Suite
Well, we have finally made it to my favorite rooms in the Homearama house – the Master Suite. The homeowners are both successful business people with two active kids so they wanted a retreat within their home where they could relax. We went for a soothing color palette of cream and grey blues.
Master Bedroom
The furniture had an old world feel with rich woods and beautiful details such as the upholstered bed with wood trim or the bowed front of the double dresser.
We included a reading nook (which every bedroom should have).
We dressed the bed with custom bedding. The windows included both a cornice board and drapery panels. A chenille rug was chosen for the wood floor. The landscape artwork is serene – I know because that’s in the name of the artwork!
Master Bathroom
For the Master Bath, the beautiful custom cabinetry in rich mocha wood was balanced by the light travertine floor and shower walls. We installed brushed nickel hardware and matched the finish when selecting apothecary jars.
The tub surround had a wood panel front to match the cabinetry, and the Greek Key accent tile from the shower was repeated above the tub deck to tie the two together.
When selecting the tiles for the shower floor we considered scale. We installed a much smaller scale tile on the shower floor.
We dressed the window with a relaxed roman shade. The cream and blue striped fabric was also used on the wingback chair in the Bedroom. The small fringe adds a nice detail to the valance. This room is so soothing, it’s a wonder these homeowners ever leave!
