Homearama 2016: Master Bedroom
The Master Bedroom of our Homearama 2016 Southern Belle was designed to be the perfect retreat for our homeowners. We carried the monochromatic feel from the Master Bathroom into this space – and brought a range of finishes and textures in to make it calming and relaxing.
Although the ceiling in this master bedroom may have caused our builder some headaches, they superbly executed the high gloss effect we were going for. We wanted your eye to drift all the way up to the ceiling. Believe me, if you walked through this space at the show, it did! This high sheen also reflects light into this space. It casts a beautiful light everywhere – plus you get to see this awesome Fan d’lier! We need air movement as well as a statement piece.
The bedding was truly the inspiration for the room. Soft tones in our homes color palette made it the perfect choice. With just hints of warmth in the pattern, we chose to highlight them with beautiful wood tone in the nightstands and dresser.
The lamps on the nightstands remain neutral but add so much – the texture you are seeing is grasscloth. Some of the coolest lamps we have seen come through our store.
You all know we hate being matchy-matchy here, so we chose a mix of black and wooden case goods for this room. Anchoring the wall opposite the bed is an all wooden dresser with beautiful deeper tones running throughout it.
The artwork over the smaller dresser is a favorite. We used the original size of this artwork in our Guest Bedroom in the Updated Spec Home project, but that size would not do in this space. Fortunately, we were able to customize the art to fit the space we had in mind – a good thing to know if you fall in love with a piece and its the wrong size!
Every Bedroom Needs Seating
We flanked the larger dresser with one of our favorite swivel chairs we carry in the store. The chairs match the soft linen feel of the bedding without fighting it with a pattern. The skirt on the bottom and nail heads are the little details that just let it sink into the room.
One chair is fitted with a floor lamp for those late nights reading. The other chair has a small table perfect to stack the most recent reading materials.
We love standing mirrors here – and this one is stunning. With a slight antiqued tinge to the mirrors and the framed inlays, this mirror reflects light and the bed beautifully. Parchment tones carry throughout the space, including the artwork on the opposite wall.
For finishing touches we added tailored Roman Shades with a crisp taping along the edge. We also included our favorite pup, Mason, in our bejeweled decorative frames to keep everyone smiling.
