Family Home Update: Basement Living Area + Bar
The Basement is the last space we updated in this Family Home, and it is now a wonderful entertaining space with 5 different gathering areas – Seating Area, Game Table, Television Viewing, Dining Area, and the Bar. The mechanical room which was previously in the center of the space was moved to open up the entire level.
The Bar is definitely the focal point of the updated space. Marc’s Custom Cabinets did a phenomenal job of bringing our vision to life. The homeowners did not want the bar to look like a “basement kitchen” so we did a really dark finish on the cabinetry and added a raised bar with a rolled bar edge. We added ledgestone to the front of the bar and the back of the hutch.
The hutch has plenty of space to display bottles and glassware and store wine with the accent lighting highlighting everything.
We wanted to accentuate the length of the bar (which is 10 feet long) so we added 5 small pendants.
We were able to add extra bar stools on the short side of the bar for a total of 6. The saddle seat stools in leather and nail head trim work well with the finishes.
The homeowner wanted something unique for the countertop so we chose a leathered granite.
We were able to incorporate much need storage into the cabinetry as well as all the necessary appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, beverage center, wine cooler, and ice maker.
The homeowners were given these bourbon barrel tables with glass tops, and they fit perfectly in the dining area. We installed the homeowner’s own European mounts above them.
This recessed area was the perfect spot for the homeowner’s buck.
This television viewing area has two large sofas and a recliner to accommodate lots of sports fans.
We were able to center the existing game table on the fireplace. We found the perfect spot for the homeowners’ vintage slot machine.
The homeowners’ Italian leather furniture fit perfectly into this nook to the right of the game table. The rug came from their travels to India.
Prior to the remodel, the homeowners told me they never used their Basement – now they spend all of the time here! Enjoy!
