Bright + White Kitchen Renovation

This Bright + White Kitchen Renovation is the most dramatic transformation I have ever worked on. The homeowner had a vision of the look she wanted for her new Kitchen, and we were able to help her achieve it. Below is a BEFORE photo of where we started – terra cotta tile on the floor, honey cabinetry, green walls and an angled island that dominated the space.

This is where we ended up! Although we changed every finish in the space, the most impactful change was repositioning the island to face the Hearth Room and the wonderful view of the golf course. We even enlarged the island to add more countertop space and eating area; however, by keeping the top all one level, the island does not overwhelm the Kitchen. For the finishes, our starting point was this 12×24 tile the homeowner found for the flooring. It was laid in a herringbone pattern for more interest in this large space. We pulled the colors and tones out of the floor tile in selecting the quartz countertops, backsplash and wall color.

The quartz countertop is Cambria’s Berwyn. It has wonderful grays and taupes with just a hint of sparkle to it. Click here and here to see more quartz countertops. We kept the countertop the same throughout the large space; painted the perimeter cabinetry a crisp white; and made the island look more like a furniture piece by painting it Sherwin Williams’ Dorian Gray (SW7017) and adding posts for the bar stools to tuck in between.

The farmhouse sink and commercial style faucet complete the look for the new island.

The 3×12 gray tiles are the appropriate scale for the elongated backsplash area. The medium gray grout adds a nice outline detail. The simple oversized pulls are the perfect hardware choice.

We drew our accent color palette of teal and salmon from the butterfly prints that the homeowner fell in love with at our store. We furnished this area with a rustic table, bench and parsons chairs also from our store. The chandelier’s scallop shade is a great twist to a standard drum shade, and you guessed it…she got it at Robin’s Nest Interiors.

For the Hearth Room, we added these shapely club chairs to the homeowner’s existing furniture and positioned them for maximum viewing pleasure.

We painted the angled fireplace surround the same color as the island – another great job by Creative Finishes by Kelly.

What a transformation! Not only does the space function better for the homeowner, this Bright + White Kitchen Renovation is more reflective of the homeowner’s updated style. The room feels open and airy, but interesting with pops of color and great addition to detail. Enjoy!
