Audubon Park Remodel

I love the Audubon Park area – the homes have such great character inside and out. So what do you do when the homeowners have a more modern design sense? As it is with any older home, you respect the architecture of the home while adding design elements that meet your aesthetic. For this remodel, we replaced the honey oak hardwood with a blond vinyl plank that worked better with the homeowners’ lifestyle. We keep the walls light and neutral with Sherwin Williams’ City Loft (SW7631) in the Living Area and Anew Gray (SW7030) in the Dining Area and Kitchen. The husband had the vision for a feature wall on the fireplace wall, so we added great texture and color to the space with ledgestone and a sleek firebox. The wife found this sharp sofa at Crate&Barrel, and we paired it with the husband’s modern leather recliner. We added a comfy chair & ottoman in a geometric pattern as well as a mid-century chair in a gorgeous gold velvet. We finished off the Living Area with an abstract rug that ties all of our colors together. We made the homeowners’ Sunroom addition feel like it had always been there by repeating the arc from the Living Room to the Dining Area. The homeowners struggled with how to decorate around the blue tile in the Bathroom, but it is such a great feature that we chose to let it be the focal point. We painted the walls white and added white shower curtain and shade. We did add some modern touches with the mirror and vanity light. Speaking of modern touches, check out the awesome stairwell handrail! Our contractor is simply the best – from arches to feature walls to cable handrails – he does it all!

This remodel incorporates the homeowners’ modern design aesthetic while still respecting the architecture of this wonderful home. Mission Complete! Enjoy!
